Disclosing vs Not disclosing

I'm sad that I can't participate in the meetings for the next few months, but hopeful for the future. In the meantime, I have a question. I've heard that Portland Werewolf plays a version of the game such that the roles of individuals who are killed are not disclosed to the group. Only the gamemaster knows when a seer, healer, werewolf, etc., has expired.

I was first introduced to the game through the French version (The Werewolves of Miller Hollow) and in that game play, the game masters turned over cards to show the status of killed players.

What are the pros and cons of disclosing vs. not disclosing? How does it affect the game play? The enjoyment? etc.
